Managing an Open Chest Wound
To demonstrate the proper management of an open chest wound.

Determines scene is safe  
Introduces self, obtains permission to help/treat.   
Script
"Hi, my name is … and I'm with the ski patrol. Is it alright if I examine you and see what we can do to help you out?"
Initiates Standard Precautions   
Assesses the ABCDs, controls any bleeding   
Related
Stabilizes the cervical spine if injury is trauma induced.  
Exposes the chest  
Palpates entire chest checking for tenderness/deformities  
Applies an occlusive dressing and tape according to local protocol if sucking chest wonds is present.  
Applies high flow oxygen via nonbreather  
Treats for shock and maintains body temperature  
Loads patient onto long spine board   
Readjusts occlusive dressing tape according to local protocol.  
Transports patient and transfers to EMS personnel.
