Script
"Hi, my name is … and I'm with the ski patrol. Is it alright if I examine you and see what we can do to help you out?"
Determines if patient can speak in complete sentences.
Looks for chest rise and fall (On unresponsive patient, places hand on patient’s chest or listen at mouth for respirations).
Determines if patient has breathing problems.
Assesses respirations for the following: Rhythm, Depth, Effort, Noise
Counts number of breaths for 30 seconds and multiply by tow for respirations per minute determines if patient is breathing within normal limits (12–20 adult) (14–24 child) (20-30 infant).
